Lance,

Install a short ''tether'' to the knob and holder, so it won't become separated.

One thing that i wish the multi mark had. The ability to be able to unscrew the gold pin, nut not take it out and be able to move the ruler from straight, to 90 Degrees, and to 45 degrees. Just have like a set in spot for each like it does already just make it to where you dont ha to take the pin all the way out each time you switch it over!

But i really do like this tool a lot! i have just dropped that pin over and over haha...

Personally, I feel the present scale length/size is ideal for most applications; akin to a 6'' steel rule.

The tool size seems to be the most suitable---

fits nicely in the palm the hand---

easy to operate and adjust with just one hand---

using ones thumb to loosen/tighten the locking nut---

Ideal length and size to fit in a pocket, apron pocket, or the like.

I wouldn’t change the design.

I’d find the scale more useful, with 1/32 and 1/64’’ graduations.

I’ve learned to compensate---

when I need a close measurements, I just use a different 6’’ steel rule, as well as a 12’’, 18’’ 24’’ and 36’’ rule with 64th’s and 32nds graduations.

A 12’’ combination square is the most universal measuring tool, followed by a 6’’ and then a 4’’ machinist square.

Another most useful tool is a rafter square.

A longer scale, on the Kreg tool would be subjected to more easily getting deformed or bent---

followed by problems and complaints.

A longer scale would need to be thicker and wider---

require a larger body to support the scale.

It wouldn’t be as useful as the 6’’ size---making it too large to fit in a pocket or apron.

Making the body of the Kreg tool, from aluminum, would be a lot more costly---perhaps 5 times or more, over the present design. It would end up being cost prohibitive for most woodworkers.
This little tool has become a…tag:kregjig.ning.com,2012-11-25:2900167:Comment:4985672012-11-25T06:02:58.872ZBRAVOGOLFTANGOhttps://kregjig.ning.com/profile/BRAVOGOLFTANGO

This little tool has become a highly used item in my shop, handy little quick-measure/depth gauge. Would be cool to have a version twice as long, alum would be nice.

A very handy tool, next to my pencils.

I need to purchase a replacement---

the markings are nearly worn off.

Perhaps, I use to too often.

PS---I'd like to see them make the tool, with a little larger diameter and a slightly thicker knob and larger/deep knurled fastener head.

A larger/deeper knurl would make for a better grip when loosening and tightening the fastener.

and agree with your comments, the fact its able to be "folded away" and its compact size was my reason for purchasing, not forgetting of course its a Kreg tool and hence well made.

Yeah, I love that little tool. Well worth the 11 bucks I paid for it.
