The Craftsman Auto Switch

http://www.sears.com/craftsman-auto-switch/p-00924031000P

This just might be one of the best accessories for the Kreg Jig. Imagine this, you plunge your drill into the Kreg Jig's drill guide and as you compress your drill's trigger your vacuum turns on automatically sucking all of the loose woodchips through the Kreg Dust Collection Attachment. As soon as your hole is done, you release the trigger and your drill and vacuum wind down simultaneously.  Cool, right? Definitely!

Mike, if you are looking for how I built the dust control on-off switch, it is contained in a diagram and explaination that I posted beginning on page one thru 3 under the product review section of this community.  It is pretty simple and easy to build and requires very little amount of money.  It in now going on about 16 years of trouble free service.  You build it with a current sensor and a relay and some common electrical items.

I have 2 of the craftsman switches, 1 on my chop saw and the other on my router table, they are connected to my shop vacs, i love it, can't afford those big dust collectors, great when your on a budget, for about $20 each, it's money well spent, and it made my wife happy, not spending much money !!  lol...

In a past issue of Woodsmith there is a article on these switches .The person suggested to save over half and go to box store in lighting and purchase a remote outside light switch. You plug in receiver to outlet and dust system to that, then your remote stays in your apron.

Sandra:

If you are electrically handy, wiring a pilot light in parallel with your pump would do the trick.  You would just attach a 120 VAC pilot light lead on the switched side of the pump electrical hook-up (assumes pump is 120 VAC as well).  Hook the other lead to the pump's circuit neutral and whenever you flip the switch to your pump, the pilot light will be on.

If you are not electrically handy, an electrician can do this for you as well.

A question for you Jay - Can multiple circuits be passed through the sensor "shoe"?

Thanks

I misunderstood - I thought that the dust collector was running on for a time after the controlling appliance was turned off...

Sorry about that!

Jay

The link you provided no longer works.

The current sensors are now at http://www.ssac.com/search.php?q=TCS and there are timers at http://www.ssac.com/products.php?cat=55&page=3 could you confirm for us that these are the correct sections?

Thanks
