The first cut is the most important, but glad to read your happy with the product. ANd the rails... I'm a lot like you - couple of good straight 2x4s will do the trick.

hello charles yes i dry my own wood. depends on what kind of wood it is as for how long it takes to dry most hard wood drys in 60-90 days depending on the weather. evergreen takes a bit longer. get your self a moister meter from wood crafters or the such. let it dry down to 18-20% for best results.
