Sandra, adding a light to your pump should be easy.

I am assuming you can do basic house-type electrical work. Not knowing the pump/switch surroundings I can only speculate what would be appropriate. An inexpensive electrical book from Home Depot or similar will show you how easy this is, and the safety practices to prevent shock.

1. You can add a neon or other small lamp to the switch housing by wiring directly to the positive out (to pump) connection and ground.

2. You could put an outlet inline with the pump, perhaps attach an electrical work box nearby and wire the pump's power line through it. Tap the outlet to the line, but do not splice it directly through the  outlet or you may prevent the circuit from running unless something is plugged into it. Done properly the outlet will only be live when the pump is switched on.

Once put together you can simply plug in a lamp of any kind, or a radio or whatever will get your attention.

3. You could also use the same components used to turn on a sump pump, where the float moving below a level turns on the pump.

4. You could simply make a "flag" of some sort that gets your attention, and put it up whenever you turn on the pump. I have often done this when I had a lot of different things to do, so that I did not forget. Anything out of place that gets your attention will suffice!

Good luck with this project!

Rob

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
