 Thanks, Mike.

I always need help in downloading things on this site. I am trying to be a better woodworker. I started with using 2 bys and plywood until I get more comfidient in using hard woods like oak, maple, and such. I really want to improve my skills in woodworking. I have done some really neat stuff. I made a workbench and made smooth wooden slides for my drawers. I had a neighbor checked out my door slides and he thought that they were ball bearing slides.  He was sure embressed with them. I know I sure was. Thanks again for the friend request.

hi mike, i didnt want to post this on the router blog, but i would never ever use a 1/4 shank bit to make raised panels. you would just be asking for trouble and a trip to the er. 1/4 shank might be ok for the rail and stile cuts. i only use 1/2 shank bits, stronger and dissipate the heat better. i gave all my 1/4 shank bits away. the 1/2 shanks cost the same or slightly more than the 1/4 shank. this is only my opinion and you know what they say about opinions. check with jay and see if he agrees with me. talk to you later. good luck with the water problems.

Mike, It looks like you got a bargin in a saw as it was made when a craftsman tool was a real tool that you could depend on and work with it without the fear of breaking it.  I read the post of both John Schaben and Jens Jensen  and I would say that they gave you some very good advise.  i can't add much other that say you have got something worth fixing up and using.  It will give you many years of good reliable cutting.  I have seen more of these earlier model radial arm saws than of the newer ones in the cabinet shops that I have visited over the years.  Congradulation on picking this one up.
