I don't own a jointer, just a plainer and a few hand plains.
The finish is just some leftover paints. I used red and black for under layers and I mixed up some home made Chalk Paint (2 parts paint to 1 part baking soda) for the top layer finished with a couple coats of Minwax paste wax.

I don't know what type of wood this palette was made from but it was big.
The boards were 8 feet long and 1 inch thick and 6 - 8 inches wide.
Yes that is a working drawer on the bottom (even used dovetails on the box)
