"I think it may have been set too tight. But not being there I won't say for sure that's it. However when you set the clamp to the woods thickness they recommend 2 clicks. That clamp is plenty tight enough set at 2 clicks."

"Yes the teeth should be towards the clamp. One may have slipped thru the cracks at Kreg. Not an unheard of ordeal with a company that produces so much product. I'm certain they will remedy your situation post haste."
