I used to buy from someone that made solid wood frames, he did amazing work and I loved his stuff. It always held up and you could see it was quality. I had seen other artist that went out and purchased cheap frames made of junk wood or plastic. Nothing worse then a gorgeous piece of artwork, framed in a cheapy frame.
Unfortunately the gentleman I would buy my frames from moved out of the area and quit doing his woodworking. A real shame as he was an artist with wood. :)
If you ever decide to sell your stuff let me know.
Most of the frames I make nowadays are for my own use or as gifts for friends. I find that trying to sell frames is a losing proposition. People do not want to pay for all the work that goes into them. I did sell frames at one time to a person that did custom stained glass work. They were willing to pay becuase they were getting the cost back in their charge. But even at that, the work and time that goes into customizing a frame makes them very expensive and only a certain clentele wiill pay for them.
