which is better?

Is there a significant difference between a and b. Which is better and why? The four boards are supposed to be assembled together to form a cabinet.

I would go with "b" and make pocket holes in the top and bottom as shown....

Is this the front view, or top view, or side view?

As a side or front view, example A distributes the weight down the sides.

As a top view, example A looks like a typical face frame.
