I learned something new from Phillip I just had to share:
Ratchet (with reduction bit), ¼” socket, and a Robinson’s (Kreg) bit, come together to form a right angle screwdriver to get into tight spots!

Great solution. It never occurred to me and I will be using this technique in the future. Plus I love your projects. Good job Jenny.

The ratchet provides plenty of torque without pre-drilling the second piece, even in oak.

Using a ratchet as discribed above, is it necessary to predrill a hole into the final piece once the pocket is made, or does the ratchet provide enough torque to get the job done and pull the joint tight? Thanks for any comments.

Wow ! What a great idea. I don't know why I didn't think of something on that order. I guess that is why these forums are so great. Sharing ideas and figuring out simple solutions to common problems, which by the way, I never really realized that some of the problems that I am having are fairly common amongst us novice woodworkers. I was beginning to doubt my capabilties as a woodworker when the first thing I did when I mounted my Kreg jig was to drill two beautiful holes right through the base plate of the jig. Thanks alot for info.

So glad you posted this! I was about to toss a small set of shelves that were half assembled when I realized I couldn't get a drill in there! Great idea!

A dogbone wrench makes this even smaller.
