this is fun and inderesting although the plot thinkens LOL. Good to get different view and idea. At 2x6 (1.5x5) it looks very good

You might be right, (3619 psi vs. 8854 psi bending stress) but unless you go somewhere other than a big box store and want to use pressure treater wood, I opted for plain 2 x 6's. I did run them through a thickness planner to square them up for appearance sack. I also router the edges.

5/4 x 6, deck material, would suffice for a children's picnic bench.

Dorald, thanks and straigh from the horse's mouth this time, great. I was inquiring because I've seen a number of child's picnic tables pland on the web made with 1x6 dimension lumber and wondered. Regards, PV

I would not recommend using 1 x 6's for this project. My concern would be with the span. Even if the kids just sat there, they would deflect and over time, maybe crack. The 2 x 6 might be overkill but I would rather be safe and have it last then sorry.

This design will sit kids and grownups together without fear of overloading the benches.

Someone asked for the plans . . . Just send me your email and I'll see you get a copy.

big kids, small kids, they all grow up. How long does it have to last. PS: could have put a discreat brace under the seat to avoit bowing. Might make it anyway and see. Thanks though. what's with the 'rude' kids? I don't see rude kids!!

I did a picnic table a few summers ago and used 1x6's.  It never occurred to me that kids don't sit on picnic tables they like to jump off of them!  So a few of my boards are bowing now.  I would definitely do 2x6's next time.

that kids of Dorald must be like... very rude! jajajaja Pierre, I think you should use 2 x 6, it will last forever! and it will be safer for them... also thinking in doing one :)!

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
