Select pine. She's going to paint it, and didn't really want to waste the money on oak. I've never worked with oak before, but I think I'm confident enough now to try it.

oak or pine?

I have the Porter Cable dovetail jig from Lowe's. Very easy to use and it does a nice hidden dovetail or a sliding dovetail. It comes with the bit and so easy to set up. The only other tool you need is a router with a half inch cullet.

Wow! I'm shocked! I signed up on this Kreg community thing thinking it would be much like facebook, only a lot less people. I've never received so many responses to anything I ever posted on facebook, not that I post that much. Thanks for all the kudos. I finished the piece. I still have to paint it. (I know - such a shame to cover up all that beautiful grain with paint.) It's for my daughter and she hasn't given me a color yet.

I wanted to try doing dovetail jonts on the drawers, but so many jigs and so varied in price. I can't decide. Any advice? Anyway, the drawers are not that big and will not get that much use. I tried to find drawer rails, but no one had rails that short. I just put slides on either side. (my invention)

I found a good video on how to make cabinet doors, but I don't have all the fancy router bits (yet). I just cut the corners on 45 degree angles and put them together with glue on one screw, using the Kreg jig. They are small, and that seems substantial enough. I'll put glass panels in them after it's painted. '

Here is the finished product.

I always use the full extension slides and kregg makes a nice pair of jigs to put the slides in and then put the drawer boxes in. I got the jigs at my local Woodcraft Store.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
