Don,
Most of it is ''Free-hand''---sketching and carving.
For some letters, I make them in the rough, using a chalk.
Followed by pencil outline, as a guide prior to carving.
Followed by carving.
Images are sketched, from a photo, picture image, or the like.
Sketch or draw-in the outline and markings with a pencil, followed by carving.
(Pencils such as .05, .07, .09 and 2mm HB lead).
For shading I use a #2 pencil lead, first sharpen in the round then followed by making two flat sides, using fine grit sandpaper, so the lead is shaped in a ''wedge''.
(Works great for making a fine narrow marking lines, in wood-working).
I fill-in or make the engravings/carvings using soldering-iron type tools.
I use a variety of ''wood burning'' tools, with interchangeable tips.
I make most of my own ''tips'', so as to achieve the desired markings or images.

Say, do you mind sharing how you did these and if they're done by stencils or whatever where did you get the stencils for the wild game and cabin and so on? Awesome work! I am an old salt of a Marine and I have been around the block once or twice and I have seen people at gun shows that make the signs right there and they were making a killing off the signs… Thanks, looking forward to hearing from you don't mind… by the way I came online tonight just to find your work as I am so impressed!
Do u market these. I bet they would sell at sportsmanship shows

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
