My first cabinet build and first use of the table saw. Most of it was built with scraps I had on hand. Was going for "practice" more so than attention to detail but it will do well for what it is intended. I built the end for storage cubbies, mostly wood cut offs of various sizes yet easy to see and grab.

Thanks Harold,   I had so much fun with this and was equally excited to learn that it is a functioning valued piece of equipment now in place.   It has come in quite handy.  This site has been a excellent source of information and everyone has been very helpful for a total rookie like myself.

Rita, I love this cabinet.  I like to build things with scraps I have around the shop too.  Very nice piece of art.

Alternate storage:

I find very handy, a bin or tub, to store cut-off pieces on their ends.

Place the tub or bin onto a dolly, for mobility.

This makes for readily viewable and identifible size, shape and length of the cut-off pieces.

Height of receptable to facilitate the length of cut-offs.

Dividers can be installed vertically, to separate the goods.

A tub with 2, 3 or 4 dividers.

Dividers can be simply 1/8 - 1/4'' pressboard, cut-to-fit.

Cross-locking the dividers in place,  with a slot located in the center, and of a slot depth of 55% of the divider length.

Place one dividers with the slot "UP" and another with the slot "DOWN", to lock in place.

Larger size bins can be fabricated from plywood, with applicable dividers, to accommodate the pieces or strips of material.

Also,  another receptable for short pieces.

Works for me.

Thanks for all the pats on the back!  I am also learning that when I start getting tired is when I start messing up.   I'm always thinking "one more cut" or "I'll just attach this".  Going to have to go with the motto that tired work is sloppy work.

Nice job, Rita. I like your cut-off bin on the end. It looks nice and it is okay to make mistakes I even make mistakes too. That is how we learn and to do better the next time. I also found out that if I go slow and take my time my mistakes are few when I am working. Your color is nice and it goes great with the doors. Keep making saw dust. you are doing great.

Well Rita if you were making this as you said, "practice",  you have just mastered the practice session.  This is one fine looking cabinet that is built to last.  I like the color scheme and with the two drawer over two door design with open storage on the side is very wise.  it gives you plenty of storage for a cabinet that size.  I see no wasted space.  Thank you for sharing your work.
