Showing a piece of molding with the completed flutes.
I will provide a link to a slide show that will give you a better understanding of the jig and how it works. It is simple but difficult to explain.
This is the link to the jig:

Thanks again Ken, fluted molding is something that more woodworkers would use if it didn't cost so much and they you are also limited to lengths and styles as to what they make or stock. A jig is easy to make and inexpensive. This jig puts fluted molding in the hands of the woodworker so they only have the expense of the material. It will cut the cost about 75 percent. I recently cut 1100 lin feet of three fluted oak door casing for a new house that a customer is doing. Imagine what that would have cost to purchase at the local cost of 16 dollars per each 8 foo stick. Besides that you get to choose your material so that it will match. The thing is, fluted molding is used in many trim out applications.
The jig is easy to build and is inexpensive to build. It is hard to explain in words and would take a large amouunt of photos to attempt to do so. This is a link to a slide the fluting jig.
