I used a 1/2" metal rod I purchased at Home Depot and I also purchased a small piece of aluminum tubing with a 1/2" ID that the solid rod could spin inside. I cut the tubing 3/4" in length and installed them in the first piece of plywood on each side as to not have the hole oblong after time. Hope that helps.

Jig settings for 2 ¾ x 1 ½ boards with 30 degree miters?
