Thank you Megan.  On this box the dovetails are cut with a "omni jig" and router.  I do often cut them by hand when time allows.  This is one I made from scrap wood from rememants left over from a job(s).  I made this one for a lady as a thank you gift for a project I did for her.  I build alot of cabinets and furniture and always build them a thank you gift from their left over materials.  I just hate throwing away useable material.  I give away as much as I can to the neighborhood crafts people.

I like your idea of making a ukulele and I think it would be an excellent  project of which musical instruments are interesting in them selves.   You did a nice job on the guitar, looks very professional and makes a person want to start playing a guitar.

Megan after seeing some of your work I know you will do just fine in any woodworking project you decided to do.  I have found in all the years of doing this,  that it is just as much about saying to yourself, "i can do it" as it is about knowledge and tools.  Knowledge and skill comes from developing a talent.  Some develope it and others never do because they fear they can't accomplish something new and give up long before it is finished.

You are well on your way to developing your talent, and your skills will develope along with your tools as time goes on.  Remember that there is more than one way to do something and the method you choose is what makes it unique to you.  Many of my projects are high end custom items and I always strive to make everyone different from the other.

I like the top on this piece. Haven't done any dovetail or finger joints before. Did you hand cut those or use a router jig of sorts? I've wanted to make something like this with hinges for a while so I could turn it into a cigar box style ukulele. Just haven't had the access to the tools, proper knowledge, or courage yet! Some day...

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
