nice job with teh carriage bolts...pocket screws are awesome for everything else, but glad that you added the carriage bolts for the extra heavy duty support

Great set of bunk beds Jeff.  I'm still finishing up a full-size bed made from 2-by-6 lumber from Home Depot myself.  I only have the rails to finish and install this weekend.

Everyone struggles with knowing which screws to use. It's normal – and confusing.

I don't know what I'm doing at all, I just took one measured step at a time. Made some mistakes along the way, too - big ones! I just kept imagining my kids and how happy they'd be, plus I let them come in and watch me work now and then. Building stuff is good for the whole family. If you have time, you should go for it!

that is sweet, i would love to build something like that for my son, i guess i am just too stupid to be able to do that, heck, i can not even figure out the right size screw to use on this night stand i am trying to make for my wife.

my wife and I climb up and down and we've had everybody in these things time and time again - they haven't budged a millimeter!

Jeff I have done bunks for awhile and these are going to last for a long time because you used carriage bolts to joint  it together. lots of people want to rely on the pocket screw for everything  . Good job
