Gary, thank you for your comment.  Y

es the radial arm saw is a very handy tool to have in the workshop and there are many things you can do with it and expecially in making molding and cuts that are beyond the range of the table saw's ability to tilt beyone a 45 degree angle.  In building this crown molding it woud be pretty hard to cut the dental molding  but with the radial it is pretty simple.

Thanks again Gary and have a great day and above all work safely.

Thank You Jim, fopr such a nice complement.  I like sharing with others when I know that the potential is there for others to learn from it.  Old craftsmanship has changed in the years since we stated and the latest technology has provided up with the tools to do what the craftsmen of days gone by had to do using their ability to figure out ways to make their products.  However the facts remain that you do not have the latest big investment of a molding machine where it produces complex moldings with the touch of button.  That takes the craftsmanship out of woodworking and turns it into a push button woodworker.  The thing I wanted to get across to others is that this can be done using a minium of tools.  In this case to make this molding it would be very costly to grind all the knives needed to shape the profile of this molding.  Thanks again Jim and you also have a great day and enjoy the upcoming holiday season building in the shop.

Nice work Jay. This is the reason I bought my radial arm saw. For making decorative cuts also works well for stub tenons. Locking drawer cuts.
