Roll Top Cabinet

I saw the "Dentist's Desk" shown on the right at a friend's house and was intrigued with the unusual roll top. We didn't have room for another desk, but I used the piece as an inspiration for the roll top cabinet pictured on the right. Made of quarter sawn white oak, fumed with ammonia and finished with a coat of garnet shellac followed by an oil and urethane hand-rubbed finish. It is almost complete, but still needs the hardware.

Hey, thanks Justin and James. This was my first attempt at making a roll top because I wasn't sure I could make it work. It turned out okay, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well it slides in the track. Most importantly, my wife really likes the piece. LOL

Great job William!  Tambour doors aren't the easiest at all to do, I really like this piece.  The fuming really does add something too
