Comment by Chuck Barnett on November 16, 2011 at 10:16pm Very nice work. My wife has been after me for years to build a bookcase in our family room and your project has gotten me motivated. One question: What kind of puck lights did you use? I have installed some xenon units under our kitchen cabinets but notice they give off quite a bit of heat. I would worry about using them enclosed inside the shelves.
Thanks!
Comment by Gary B. on November 17, 2011 at 10:34am Yes, i was worried about the heat as well because the puck lights are embedded inside the wood and so I knew that the heat would not vent very well. I used LED puck lights with wires that were hidden inside the shelves. The company for the LED lights was Hampton Bay and I bought it at Home Depot. I also chose LED because they are long lasting. Good luck on the build
Comment by Gary B. on November 17, 2011 at 10:35am P.S. LED emits very little heat.
Comment by Sheila Humphries on February 14, 2012 at 2:56am AMAZING. You have so much talent and if you're not doing this for a living, you certainly should. You would be so successful no doubt. I wish I had half your talent! Truly inspiring.
Comment by Sheila Humphries on February 14, 2012 at 2:57am p.s. you should send photos of this along with drawings to Woodworker & Wood magazines for consideration. I bet you would get published.
