Shuffleboard table

9' shuffleboard table with 8' playing surface.

Box has common pine sideboards and the bottom (not seen) is plywood and mdf scrap.

Playing surface is 2 x 3/4 birch plywood with red mahogany stain. The surface is not attached yet - I may redo it b/c the stain is so dark, the scoring lines are hard to see.

Vinyl liner for the inside of the box. Glued using Weldwood contact cement.

Steel pipe for the legs. Go to Essential Hardware for best prices.

Hi Andy, I just have a few more questions about your table. How long are the legs? What width are the sides of the box? Thanks for your help.

No plans - sorry - I really just kind of built it on the fly.

The playing surface is 3/4 in birch plywood - I took two sheets 16" wide by 8 ft long and glued them to create the 1 1/2 thick playing surface. I then used fiberglass filler to smooth the edges to paint black.

I actually created a new playing surface later - the dark stain on this one was too dark to use number decals. I'll post a new pic. I used Edge Glued Finger Joint Pine Board from lowes - 8 ft with a thick glaze coat finish. The playing surface needs to be thicker than 1 1/2 inches so you may want to go with 3 boards thick.

The box - i just winged it - I made it 12 inches longer and 8 inches wider than the playing surface to give room for the pucks to land. The base of the box and sides are covered cheap vinyl from Walmart. I glued the vinyl to the bottom and sides using vinyl pieces that were about an inch larger than all of the boards so that the overhang could be tucked and trimmed - before building the box.

The legs are cast iron pipes spray painted with oil rubbed bronze rustoleum metal paint.

I bought the pucks and sliding dust on Amazon

More expensive tables have hardware underneath to slightly bow the playing surface to make it just very very slightly concave to keep the pucks on the surface more. I'm looking to do that eventually.
