Prairie Style Coffee Table

This is my version of the Prairie Style Coffee table from the October 2005 issue of Popular Woodworking Magazine.

My version of the table is made from Zebra Wood and Black Walnut. I also made some modifications to how the table was made.

All of the parts were made from rough sawn material and milled to the specs that I needed for the project. I used the Kreg Jig to connect the legs to the spacers, shelf, and the apron.

Originally the project did not use an apron to connect the table top, a figure eight connector was used for this connection. I felt that the apron and table clips made a better connection.

The finish is 4 coats of general finishes enduro var satin poly. I used 1000 grit sandpaper to smooth out the finish when done.

Very nice table.Beautiful job.A really important piece in any living room is the coffee table. It really brings the whole look of the room together. You have the perfect flooring along with a great sofa and wonderful chairs plus a charming wall color that blends in with the area. Now all you need is a beautiful coffee table to add that missing piece to the living room.
