Oriental inspired coffee table

A coffee table for my daughter and her husband. Crafted from red oak and oak plywood.

Pocket hole joinery is used extensively in this project, mostly hidden and plugged where visible.

To create the desired look the top was given two coats of Min-wax Sedona Red stain, followed by a sanding sealer, then wiping on Old Masters Spanish Oak wiping stain. The wiping stain is applied heavily, worked into the grain with a plastic squeegee then wiped off. The project was finalized with two coats of polyurethane. (the flash washes out the dramatic black on red coloring in the top)

All in all I'm happy with the results and I learned some new techniques building this project.
