This is a camper I built for short weekend trips. I built it about 2 years ago in my pre-Kreg days. Sure wish I had a Kreg jig then! It would have made the build much easier. I had a lot of fun building it, but I would do a lot of things different if I were to do it again. If you want to see photos of the build, go to youtube and type in "Homebuilt teardrop trailer".

Ok, looks like I didn't look far enough into your blog to find the price... Still, great job.
I'm with your wife on that one. I love camping, HATE tenting. I have a bad back and tree branches and rocks son't seem to help that too much. Also, a cold dew shower in the morning is not my idea of fun. This is the perfect alternative to a tent. As far as the cost goes, it was not as cheap as I originally "estimated". By the time all was said and done it was about $1700. As I said before, there are things I would do differently next time and some of those things would have saved me some money. However some of the things I would change would probably cost me more as well so it's probably about a wash. If your looking at doing this project, expect to spend somewhere about $2000. One of the big changes I would make is I would definately build it 6ft wid instead of 4ft. Let's just say that with a 4ft wide trailer you better be on best terms with your wife! You WILL be snuggling! The other change is that I would put a door on both sides of the trailer. (It seems my wife gets up about 3 times a night to "GO".) The following is a link to my you tube video of me building this trailer. Check it out. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/7Pj_qWmH-38" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I see, my wife doesn't like to go camping because she doesn't like sleeping in a tent but I think this might just change her mind, how much would you say this project cost? (materials only)
Yeah, I just kinda cut of a couple of corners until it looked right. I didn't really build from plans, just did a lot of research on the internet.
that is pretty amazing!!! are those your own plans?
Cool looking camper trailer you built. Well done David. Thanks for sharing.

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
