My wife wanted a screen door for the basement door. Since our house is old, I could not find a off-the-shelf screen door that measured 29 3/4 X 73 3/4.
So I made this out of Poplar. I initially built the outside frame and the one horizontal rail with dowels and glued them. After that, I realized it needed a perpendicular rail from the center to the bottom. But it was already glued!
Kreg pocket screws solved that problem. To fill the pocket screw holes I figured I try the white, plastic plugs since the door was going to be painted white and they would blend in. If I had to do it again , I would use the wood plug, and sand them flush. The plastic plugs do stand out a bit. But, the project still came out as I had hoped.

Thanks Claude. She likes it since she can now do stuff in the basement, and still see and hear the kids, but not let bugs in the house. I will probably switch out the spring-hinges and try a closer instead. With the spring hinges, the door bangs against the frame even with foam pads installed in the corners of the frame.
Great work! It turned out good and clean. I'm sure wife was happy with it.
