I have not had the first problem. I have made many cutting boards with different woods and not had a problem either, in fact I see a lot of cutting board manufactures do the same. If a cutting board which is subject to washing stay together, Furniture will do just fine. You do want the wood to be under 10% percent moisture content and if you are making cutting boards use a water proof glue (titebond 2 or 3).
Robert, I have heard that woods expand differently with temperature and moisture, so they can't be glued together. Are there any guidelines, or is that just bad info?
Thanks Jay, for both comments, Like a lot of wood workers I love to mix woods
Robert, this is a very eye catching chest with its wood color combination. Maple and cherry is a great combination and go good together. Like the inset drawers and the small face frame around them. The sides also look good with the combination of the maple and cherry panel effect. You definately have a talent for design and ability for fine woodworking. Thank you for sharing.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
