Liam was 8 when he did this table. He had to do everything by himself without any help from me, so he used two clamps to hold the wood, due to the drill requiring both of his hands to drive the screws. I later got him a smaller driver for his next project (4 ft medicine cabinet). This table was his first Kreg project, so he used my tools.

The trick to preventing misalignment on the two pieces when joining is to ensure you have a hard-stop backing your work. You can either make a jig from wood or get one of the many face frame clamps from Kreg. The large metal plate clamp in the photo is nice because it is very versatile for both drilling and joining. Make sure the clamp head is directly over the joint seem and tight. The misalignment issues should stop.

Interesting photograph. My assembly is always rewarded with the screw pulling the piece of timber out of alignment.
Do I interpret your pic correctly if I assume that you are trying to prevent misalignment by using this double clamping arrangement and also shimming the piece of wood to be screwed down? (Mine always gets pulled beyond the edge of the timber which in your pic appears to be the leg....)
If the problem I have has an easy fix your advice would be greatly appreciated.

I like this use of 2 different clamps. I will use that tomorrow. I did not expect to learn from an 8 year old. I am impressed!!

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
