<p>When working with two different thicknesses the general rule of thumb is to set everything for the thinner thickness and use the corresponding screw. For example, in your situation you will want to use the 1/2" settings and then use a 1" screw. Do be careful when working with plywood to not overdrive your screw as this material will be undersized and not a true 1/2" thick. If you have any other questions please let us know. </p>
