What screw length would I use to join say a 1x4 to a 2x4 where the pocket holes have to be in the 1x4. Also what length screw to join these two when the pockets have to be in the 2x4.

Hi Duane. The general rule of thumb when working with two different thicknesses is to set everything up for your thinner material and use the corresponding screw. In your application, you would set your bit and jig up for 3/4" (I'm assuming your actual thickness is 3/4") and then use the 1-1/4" screw. If you have any other questions, please feel free to message me directly.
Thanks! That clear's things up for me.
