Hi everyone..I'm hoping someone can answer this question..

I'm building a scrap lumber cart with dimensions of 48" long x24" high x 24" wide...

My question is can I place vertical pocket holes to secure the back piece (24"x24") into the base panel.. (48" x 24")So the screw will be going into the base, will the joint line be strong enough, I will also be placing the traditional horizontal pocket holes to secure the back to each side of the cart?

I was going to glue the bottom edges of all sheet material where it meets the base...

Thanks..

Ps: below is a picture of what I want to build

Ed,

Pocket holes & screws can be placed in any verticle or horizontal position---so they are 90 degrees to the joint line.

I'd suggest orientating the screws so that the screw points are pointed inward--- away from the edge.

Adding glue (Titebond glue) to the joined members will result in additional strength & rigidity.

I just tried what you suggested and it works awesome, I see what you mean about the screw founding away from the edge ( that basically means I can have the pocket screws holes on the back of the back board ) and I'm very happy with that as it is out of sight...

Thanks very much Ken

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
