Tom,

I feel your pain.

I too experienced the same issues.

Sometimes I've had to use pliers to loosen the fitting.

Just tighten the fitting up "finger tight"---this will prevent wedging of the threads.

The threads are made from brass, and they lock-up pretty easy.

Add a dab of lith-grease to the threads, to reduce friction.

I wish they make knurls that are larger/deeper, so as to provide a better grip.

I mentioned this, some years back, but I still see no change.

On similar knurled fitting, I've enlarged the knurls, making deeper/larger grooves, using applicable machinist files.

Unfortunately this is beyond hand tight and pliers are the only way to move it, and with a lot of resistance. Does the knurled knob completely come out of the jig or is there a stop inside. Was hoping to remove to repair or replace. Knob was moving freely one minute and bound up the next. I don't get it.

Tom,

There could be a "metal chip", wedged in the threads, or a burr on the threads.

I contacted Kreg they are sending a new knob, hopefully this is all it will need somewhat concerned with the interface as well, I don't think I have a tap that small or know the pitch to get one,  we'll see if the new knob solves the problem first, I will keep you posted.  Thanks

I used a dremel to cut a slot in mine - and use a screwdriver.  Much easier to adjust now.
