Thanks Ken but this link takes me to a page where i can buy picture tile ans books. My Problem is trying to figure out how to build the top so that the tile fits flush.

Frank,

Secure the tiles to a sound foundation---

then add a ''trim'' surrounding the tiles---

position the trim so it's flush with the surface of the tiles.

a.  make a table with legs, of a size and style, you desire

b.  install a plywood base, so as to secure the tiles and provide a solid foundation

c.  locate cross  (1x4) members at right angles to the plywood---spaced at 12'' apart---

secure cross members to the table apron

d.  install tiles

e.  install trim, molding, or the like.

(trim molding, but not limited to, ''baseboard'' material, or the like.

f. finish to suit

There are plenty of easy tile top coffee table plans out there to make your first project a success. You can go to any woodworking supply store, and even larger bookstores, and get a book with dozens of woodworking plans. You can even find some free plans and project ideas online if you are on a budget.
