Kreg Owners' Community

I am so happy to have my space in our 3 car garage, but it does present a lot of challenges. My table saw is a contractor's folding table saw for easy movement and storage. I have a miter saw on wheels and that actually takes up too much space. My workbench gets slid around that garage so much, i feel like i'm sanding down the bottoms of the legs. There are so many things i want to do, but haven't found a way to put them in my shop. Does anyone have any suggestion on adequate dust collection? Mine is terrible and i have to wear a dust mask because of the saw dust.

Here's my last project. it's a mud room bench with cubbies and storage. I believe there were well over 120 pocket holes in this thing and i think you could park my car on top of it!!! The bench is made up of left over Brazillian Walnut from our bedroom flooring. Hardest wood i've ever tried to work. the smell while routing was so wild.

My next project is picture frame molding for each cubbie of the mud room. My router table is basic at best and it's closed base makes for a dangerous dust and electricity mix. I'm looking at open bottom desktop solutions now, or maybe even making my own.

I got my kreg jig about 5 years ago and there are very few projects i do that don't involve it. It has become the workhorse of my shop for sure. Outdoor benches, indoor benches, bedside tables, fixing stuff we get off craigslist, so many uses. I even got the Kreg HD. that sucker is a hoss.

I like your mud room bench and cubbies.  It is well finished.  I too work on my garage and have a similar problem.  I suggest an air cleaner that hangs from the ceiling.  I bought mine from Woodcraft, a Powermatic PN1200.  It cost a bit but it is well worth the money, is very efficient and does not make too much noise.  There are a lot out there that are similar and cost less so there is bound to be one that fits your budget.  I have everything but my lathe on wheels and so I can move stuff around as I need too.  Woodcraft and Rockler have wheel kits that you can mount on your bench that may interest you.
