What are the benefits of having one of these in your shop?  I have a 12" dewalt sliding miter saw.  I have never used a radial arm saw before, so I thought I would ask.  Looks like mounting a dado blade you could use to make drawers and stuff pretty easy?  If you have a radial arm saw, what do you like using it for?  Thanks for any replies.

If you have an older older craftsman 10 RAS you should see this, you'll like it..

Hi Jerrod,  read my post under radial arm saw vs table saw for some information about radial saws.

Thanks for the link Ken, and thanks for the heads up Jay, headed there now to see what you put.

Don't waste your money on anything other than a pre- 1960ish DeWalt radial arm saw. It will have a rounded top on the arm.

If you want to buy new, the Original Saw Company manufactures new radial arm saws from the original DeWalt castings.

I have a small 9" MBF DeWalt RAS and love it. With a Forrest negative hook 8" blade, Forrest 8" Dado stack, and a Mr. Sawdust Table, the sky's the limit. if you have any other questions, please post.

Also, check out the rebuild process this guy went through on the same saw I have:

I found a recall saw for $100. Do you think that's a good deal?

I personally would stay away from it, and look for an old DeWalt, models MBF, GWI, MB, etc. Whatever older machine you're thinking about, check over on OWWM for manuals and such. There's a wealth of knowledge there.
