Was thinking about making a 100% 2x4 project this week, thought I'd try and get some ideas here.  Post photos of projects you've built only out of 2x4's here!  Be sure to include any issues you saw, or other details about your project.

www. woodworkersworkshop.com is where you can find the plans for those benches. I use them for plant holders and did alter the size of one of them. Have fun!

Is there anywere were i can get the planes for this

Yes. I could email the plans to you if you like. I used nothing but framing 2x4's and it came out great.

I like it Bob. Did you use a plan? I would like to try a few of these myself.

Bob,
Thanks for the view of your chairs and for the detailed plans.
They look nice, and I have a good place for a couple.
I plan to add a drink holder off of one arm.
Buddy

very nice work

I saw this discussion's title and got to thinking ,  "have a stack of unused 2x4s, hmmmm"  ended up making a single chair, and a friend came by and commented that there wasn't enough width for him to sit comfortably in it,  built another chair that added 4 inches width and he liked it,  then our daughter came over checked our the chairs and said that the wide one would be great if it were about 4 inched deeper front to back, made a pair of chairs for her. and another pair of wider chairs for the friend who suggested that.  then 3 tables made in basically the same style to go with each pair.  then a chair with one arm initially to sit in a corner, but it might be made into a bench with another one armed chair and a table mounted between.

I've looked through this thread and i guess Bob Wieser found either the same plans or similar His chairs look very much like the ones  I found.  a link to the project page : http://kregjig.ning.com/photo/albums/garden-arm-chairs

Beware! The title of that book is a complete misnomer - there are no 2x4 furniture projects in it - they all require dimensional lumber of varying sizes - just bought it - pretty disappointing really but there are some good projects in the book - just not 2x4 based - it seems this is just the basic title of a series of books, maybe the very first of them DID use 2x4's - not sure.

There are a few books writen by Stevie Henderson and Mark Baldwin on 2x4 furniture and accessories (ISBN:1-57990-160-3). Also there is a book from The Family Workshop on indoor and outdoor 2x4 furniture (ISBN: 0-385-24149-6). Both of these books are hardback, also may be in papperback. You should get some ideas out of the books. Good luck.

Bob I would love the measurements for this 2x4 chair.

Just an update on this - I have thumbed through 2 other "2x4" books by Henderson and Baldwin and they follow the general scheme of rarely using 2x4's.

I haven't been able to locate

I'm not sure if this counts but I used 2x4s and 2x6s to make this picnic table.
