<p>When I said to try and find out what the market was, I wasn't thinking in terms of calling the contractor. I was thinking of more covert means. Find a recently installed deck similar to the one you are planning.. admire it for awhile and casually ask the owner "about how much a thing like that cost?"</p>
<p>Good Luck</p>

<p>Thanks for your answer john....most folks in your area don't like to give pricing due to competition. They generally will want to schedule an appointment to look over the job. So, I was wondering about some sort of idea of a low to a high so I could price somewhere in the middle.</p>

<p>The materials the customer is providing is $2500.00 I was told. I was figuring like you, a premium for hidden fasteners. Dismantling and carting away and then of course assembly.....about $1200.00…</p>

Hi Darlene - the market generally sets the price. Find out about how much it is costing in your area to have a similar deck built. From that, you would add some amount for dismantling and disposing of the old deck and subtract the cost of the materials the customer is providing. Since you will be using the deck jig, I would add a premium for hidden fasteners.

What are you worth??? Id say no less than $30.00 or more an hour. Screws are expensive and your time to haul off and pay to dump it is costly unless you can have out door burning where I am at
