Hello All - I have searched every woodworking plan site I could find looking for plans for a media center that has a space for an electric fireplace insert. I know that they see already made versions, but my husband would like to DIY one. I know that there are probably all kinds of regulations and issues regarding this but I can't find any information online. They sell the inserts alone so I was sure I would find something online. Does anyone know where I would be able to find some plans? Or has anyone here built something similar to the following?
Thanks so much in advance!

I noticed the description tab on example gave dimensions on parts of the cabinet and specifications on the heating unit. That should get your husband started. The beauty of DIY is making things to fit your desires and spaces. Type "electric fireplace entertainment center" in Google and select images to get some ideas and styles. Looking at them it seems that little clearance is needed around the insert. Building a basic cabinet to hold the insert would not be too difficult.
