Kreg Owners' Community

Hi, I’m a new member here but I’ve been lurking on this forum for months. I bought a Kreg jig several months ago, and I absolutely love it. I wish I would have had one 25 years ago.

My daughter who is a photographer has asked me to make her a photo prop. What she would like is an infant bed made out of logs. The size of the bed would be about 12” X  20”.   My neighbor lost a poplar tree a month ago and I took the bigger branches I need to make the four bed posts plus the rails. Please keep in mind that once this bed is finished a new born will be placed on the bed for the photo shoot, so this structure needs to be strong. I was thinking if I used 2 ½” pocket screws that this should be ok. Just wondering what thoughts you folks might have.

Thanks

Bobby

Hello Robert,

Welcome to the Kreg Owners' Community! We are excited to have you here!

Do you know yet what the thickness of your material will be? The size of your pocket-hole screws is dependent upon that. We have a chart on our website that shows what size of screw to use based on the thickness of your material: https://www.kregtool.com/store/c20/kreg-jigreg-screws/#tab1337.

You may already have a custom plan in mind, but we had a Kreg fan share a plan that they created for an Infant Canopy Bed yesterday - what a coincidence! You can view it here: http://www.instructables.com/id/Make-this-Infant-Canopy-Bed-Photogr....

Please comment back if you have any further questions. Good luck!
