Hey guys,

 

What is the best way to paint your projects.  I'm making an entertainment center.   What is the best way to get a smooth, and glossy coat of paint on my project.  I'm using sanded plywood.

I've always had problems with the grain of plywood showing, especially with glossy paints. The best luck I've had is several coats of oil based primary and sand to at least 180 bettween coats until you can't feel anything. I think the oil base primer is the key. I think the water in latex base stuff raises the grain on you. I have been using Zinsser Cover Stain as a primer. It dries in about an hour.
