Kreg Owners' Community

Hello All,

Was thinking about purchasing the Pocket Hole plug Cutter system from KREG, but i'm currently only using the HD screws.  The kit costs $65, plus it only comes with the standard bit...i'd have to buy the HD bit for an additional $38.

My question is from the looks of the actual Cutter system, would i be able to just buy the HD bit and drill into my piece of wood at an angle to achieve the same effect.  I'd be investing a lot of money just for the "guide" per say.

Any thoughts?

Hi,

unless you've got incredibly steady hands that guide the plug cutter, you've got zero chance..... Get the guide mate, you will NOT be disappointed.

Caleb,

I'd look into obtaining "dowel" rods,

applicable dia to fit the drilled hole.

Insert the dowel into the drill hole, 'til it bottoms out---

cut flush with a flush cutting hand-saw, or the like---

sand smooth.
