Kreg Owners' Community

Hi Owners

Just bought the Kreg K4 System to build toy boxes for the grand kids. The panels are made with 1/2 inch birch ply attached to 3/4 inch Douglas Fir top and bottom rails. The plastic plugs fit well into the fir... not so much into the plywood. The screws seat well, but the pocket is not deep enough to allow the caps to be installed flush. I tried adjusting the depth of the pocket... but the screw then travels too deep and breaks through the fir piece. Any suggestions?

I would glue the plugs in, then cut them flush, and finish up with some very light sanding.

Chris,

I'm sorry to inform you that our caps are not meant to be used with 1/2" material. As you have stated, the screw will not seat low enough in the pocket to allow them to be used. If you have any other questions, please let us know.
