I had used the trial version of Cut List Plus for several years, and the trial version works very well. The only problem is that it limits the # of parts, 5 I think, that you can add. Last year I decided to purchase the full version and have not been sorry yet. You can figure out all the parts you need plug them in, tell it what lumber you have available and it will give you a a cut list and show you the most efficient way to make your cuts with the least amount of waste.

It takes a little while to learn, not long. There is more than just the cut lists, but that is what I use it more for. In the 2 years I have been using the full version, I guarentee I have saved much more than the $90 purchase price in the lumber I have saved. There are more expensive versions of it that allow more parts, but for me 500 parts is plenty.
Yes you are right about the free tria version they give just enough carrot to coax the horse to the barn. Talking about barns Did you build your own pole barn? I built mine and with concrete and permits I have right around 2 grand in it,But I worked for a pole barn company for 16 yrs and got good discounts. I used a rafter system instead of truuses that way I have a pole center and used it for my wood loft above

Nope, too old and beatup for that. Had it built, the building (24X 40) alone was 7000, Cement 1500, spray foam to walls & roof 5000, materials to finish the inside Electrical, cabinets, pegboard, OSB for walls ect. about another 2000. Did build the cabinets myself using mostly pockethole Joinery not yet in place, and hang the pegboard and OSB on the walls. Working on another project and haven't had the time to put them in place.
