Kreg Owners' Community

After choosing and building the potting bench I decided to try making a serving cart from treated lumber to go next to my hot tub.  Like others i found a cart plan to use the jig on Ana Whites web page.  Building the cart is straight forward; however, painting it opened up a whole drawer of opinions.  Many sites say to wait 3-6 months for the wood to dry before painting.

The YellaWood treated pine website states to do a sprinkle test with water and if it absorbs; you, are good to go.  Any thoughts?

Thanks

Chuck,

I'd suggest avoiding "treated" lumber material, (as in pressure treated lumber),

for projects that may come in contact with food products.

Toxic chemicals are used in the treatment of lumber materials, and can be hazardous to a persons health.

NOTE: when cutting pressure treated wood, use an appropriate filtered face mask to prevent the inhaling of chemically treated wood fibers/sawdust, into your lungs.

great advise!   thanks
