Bench Clamp not working (Came with Mobile project center)

I received the Mobile project center as an xmas gift and have been trying to use the included bench clamp- but it has issues.

It wont allow me to close the grip on something around 1.5-2 inches high. Even with two hands I cant clamp anything over .5 inch.  And the screw that goes into the table to glide along I need a wrench to loosen/tighten (along bottom of clamp).

The middle screw that supposedly allows you to adjust auto clamping seems to do nothing.

Please help - Not sure how to rectify situation.   I think the clamp might be faulty.

1.  Get a box of Wheaties and eat for breakfast.  Just kidding.  Sometimes it seems the clamping tension goes kafooey.  When that happens I try to clamp a different size (even just down to the work surface) then go back to the actual work piece.  Usually that clears up the little hiccup that the clamp has had.  Of course, adjusting the clamping pressure should be done as well - doesn't always take much, just a little turn seems to make a big difference.

2.  As far as turning the bolt on the bottom, it's a common tool but has been factory-installed with Loctite (I think) so may take a little extra effort (more Wheaties).

I tried step 1, it will clamp something that is 1inch thick just not around 2inch. Regarding point 2, even after I first loosened the screw at bottom, hard to tighten or loosen again without pliers*. Wondering if the threads on screw are faulty.

Please contact our Technical Support team at or 800-447-8638 - they will be happy to help with this. Thanks!

Are you letting the clamp fully open before clamping a new piece?  Evidently it needs to fully open up to reset the mechanism.

I have the same work bench with clamps, works great. Contact Kreg, good people ready to help

Thanks everyone- and KREGREP.  Very helpful/found resolution.

Kreg Foreman

I have built many kitchens and finally decided to buy the Foreman, because my latest kitchen consisted of 28 cabinets and I was over my hand hurting from all the drilling, moving the clamp etc., it seemed like a smart choice.
