Kreg Owners' Community

I just put a review of a new product on the kreg Product review section. I though it might be of interest to some here it's a loose tenon jig that uses a 3/8 drill bit. This unit is easy to use and

produces good results. Here is rockler web link to the unit. http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=18092&filter=Beadlock%2...

Hi Gary - Looks like it does a nice job. Problem I have with it, and any jig designed to trap sales, is you constantly have to go back and buy the beadlock stock. In this case about $2/ft. or about 70 cents a joint.

I'm waiting for this guy to hit the market:

Cuts both mortise and tenon. I have several General Tools and have found them to be pretty decent quality and also pretty innovative in some case. They are also generally cheaper at the retailer than buying direct from their website. Their EZ Pro Dovetail jig goes for $60 on the website and $40 in Home Depot. The Dovetail jig works really well but just does half-blinds.

You can buy the bit to make the stock on your own router table. I haven't tried the bit yet but have read others say that it works. I was going to try that jig but check to see if my back order had ship and had other wise I was going to cancel. I probably would bought.

Hmm, didn't know that. I googled "beadlock router bit" and found 'em. About $50/bit.

I like the loose tenon idea. The loose tenons aren't a problem, for me, it's getting the mortise in the right place. I built a mortise jig that will center the thing fine but is a b**** to get the lateral position right/repeatable.
