Kreg Owners' Community

Hello everyone. I built a couple of workbenches and want to set one up with my Kreg K3MS and a few accessories. I've had the K3 for a little while now, and think I want to use the permanent mount, If I need to go mobile I can use the accessory that came with the kit. The benchtop is 28"x80" and I am considering mounting the K3, a 48" mini-trak, Bench Klamp system, and Klamp Blocks. I realize I may have to cut or purchase more track if necessary. I appreciate any advice on this and respect any input as a lot of you guys and gals out there have much more experience and practical knowledge than I do. I really dont want to cut a channel into the top, or mount the Bench Klamp in an impractical location and regret it later. Thanks in advance!

Anyone? I'd appreciate the community input...
Great question Thaddeus, I'm sure someone here will have some advice for you! In the mean time, I would definitely check out this thread which is full of different ideas for mounting your Kreg Jig!

http://kregjig.ning.com/forum/topics/mounting-your-jig

Example:

Make it semi-permanent. Attach you K3MS to a removable board inserted into your table. That way if you need to, you can simply remove it and take the whole jig board with you. Also make all your jigs interchangeable. Saves a lot of space when you have one or two table with several tool setups as opposed to a separate table for every tool. Just my two cents before the sandman comes tonight.
Thanks Mr. KregRep! I'll have to check it out. I think I've read this thread, but that was a while back when I was working on the portable mount.I'm sure there are some great new ideas that have been posted since. I was also hoping to get a little advice on the specific items I just purchased and anyone who could provide feedback on a permanent mount setup vs. the portable setup. The photo you provided is great and gives me some more insight. I purchased 48" of miniTrak and have found that it is not compatible with the miniTrak. I guess that means I'd have to pick up the heavier Trak if I want it to move between a board like the one above and a permanent bench.

Thanks for the advice Ryan! I appreciate that you took the time to help me out.I have my jig mounted to a portable set-up currently, but I picked up The Bench Klamp System and thought it may be more useful to mount it on a permanent bench. I very well could be wrong in that and was hoping someone who has purchased it could provide some advice so that I can weigh up all the positives and negatives and make an informed decision. Do you have a Bench Klamp? If so, where did you mount yours? Thanks again!

I have yet to purchase and setup the bench clamp system, but when I do I think I will set it up how it is shown in the preceeding photo from KregRep. As I understand your reference to portable or permanent, it really depends where you will be using the system, how big your shop is, what you'll be doing with it in terms of project size, etc. I work both a small shop and the field, so I always try to create my jigs and tables from the portability and easy storage/movability perspectives, but that's just me. I hope this helps.
