Kreg Owners' Community

Hi Folks,

Just wondering if anyone has had problems with the set screws in their Accu-Cut track?  I just used my newly purchased system yesterday for the first time.  It takes a little getting used to, but after a while I started liking it more and more.

The only real complaint I have with the system is that the set screws used to hold the two sections of track together are constantly coming loose, to the point where they fall out when you pick up the track.

Is anybody else having this problem?  I've tightened them to the extent I believe they should be done without overdoing it.

I was wondering if I should use Loctite or something similar to really fix them in place?   I don't think I'll really ever need to use the track in shorter sections.

My only other small complaint is that I think Kreg really should have thrown in a small screw driver or hex key for those screws as part of the package.  I'd have paid an extra buck to have that handy when I was first putting things together.

Cheers.........Dan

I'm having this issue too.  It would be nice to discuss issue publicly so that others can google the solutions, rather than take an issue to a tech support call.

Three details I'm noticing...

1) The screws just wiggle out constantly for me.  I put a little super glue on them to hold them in place, and that seems to be improving things.

2) They don't "grip" the alluminum track very well.  Even with them just tightened... they can start slipping very quickly.  -I've considered applying some tacky substance to the inside of the track so that the set screws have something to catch on to.

3) The phillips port strips very quickly.  The metal seems very soft.  Because I'm contantly re-tightening them, after a day or so of use... the screws no longer tighten very well, because they are all mostly stripped.

I contacted tech support about this, and they are sending me replacement screws.  They think "the threads may have been cut incorrectly.
