-- As for brake pads, I just replaced the rear pads on my GS. I was returning from a trip and could hear some scraping. Upon inspection, I couldn't see any facings. I had just had a 12K service done before the trip - and upon inquiring - "yes, we check the pads". BS!!! 3000 highway miles and nothing left - they didn't check! At least I didn't ruin the disc.
--First woodworking project will be some storage shelves - then it is on to installing some (more) laminate flooring - no need for the Kreg system there.
--We were to have departed for a mc campout today, but it'll just have to wait until the morning.

- Good luck, and good woodworking!
